Sovereign Health is a leader in providing inpatient and outpatient care of adolescents and adults with mental illness, substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Our centers of excellence are located in San Clemente, Los Angeles, Palm Desert and Rancho San Diego. Each center offers different levels of care based on patients’ needs. Patients with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and other mental illnesses find the help they need at Sovereign Health.

Residential Treatment Center (RTC)

Sovereign Health’s RTC is the most intensive level of care. Residential treatment is much like inpatient hospitalization, but in a much more private and serene setting. Patients receive care at our treatment center all day and retire to one of our comfortable residences in the evening for a good night’s sleep. Treatment team members provide 24/7 care. Residential treatment is appropriate for patients requiring medical or psychiatric supervision, such as those with chemical dependency requiring detoxification, those with suicidal ideation or self-harming behavior, psychotic symptoms, severe depression or other such conditions. Most patients stay 30, 60 or 90 days. Residential treatment is available at all Sovereign Health locations in Southern California.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Patients in the PHP have similar daytime schedules to those in the residential program, except PHP patients live at home or in a sober living facility. The PHP program is appropriate for patients requiring intensive mental health care, but who do not need 24/7 medical or psychiatric supervision. PHP patients have no thoughts of harming themselves or others and generally have a strong, sober support system at home or at their place of residence. Partial hospitalization programs are available at all Sovereign Health locations in Southern California.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Sovereign Health’s IOP provides from nine to 14 hours a week of mental health treatment, allowing time for patients to manage other responsibilities such as work, school and family obligations. IOP patients have either completed or do not require detoxification from alcohol or drugs. IOP patients who test positive for drugs or alcohol at any time during the program will be referred for a more intensive level of care. IOP is appropriate for patients who have completed residential treatment or do not require PHP or residential treatment. Intensive outpatient care is available at all Sovereign Health locations in Southern California.

Sovereign Health of San Clemente also offers an evening IOP program that meets in San Clemente from 6 to 9 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
