Eating disorder treatment program
Female patients who have anorexia or bulimia nervosa may also engage in an unhealthy pattern of behaviors regarding food and their weight. Some patients may restrict their caloric intake, while others may misuse laxatives or diuretics, take diet pills and use other methods to lose weight or avoid gaining weight. Due to these unhealthy behaviors, patients who have eating disorders may have additional medical concerns during admissions that will need to be addressed while they are in treatment.
Female adolescents and adults who receive eating disorder treatment receive comprehensive medical and biopsychosocial assessments during the admissions process to diagnose and treat the primary eating disorder and any co-occurring conditions, including substance abuse and other mental health problems such as depression. Laboratory tests may be completed to determine whether follow-up medical services are necessary.
Treatment services are provided to female patients diagnosed with eating disorders at the San Clemente and Rancho San Diego locations. The Eating Disorder Programs at Sovereign Health of San Clemente and Rancho San Diego are individualized for patients based on their specific needs.
