Eating Disorders Levels of Care/Who We Treat

Sovereign Health of California understands that not all patients will require the same level of care when they enter treatment. Patients who receive treatment may require a more intensive treatment program, depending on how severe their current symptoms are, their current support system and primary condition(s).

To provide a broad spectrum of care to our patients with eating disorders, Sovereign Health of California’s San Clemente and Rancho San Diego facilities offer residential, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient treatment services to adolescent and adult female patients.

Sovereign Health of San Clemente

Sovereign Health of San Clemente provides residential treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient and evening outpatient programs to men and women aged 18 and over who have substance abuse (also referred to as substance use disorders), mental health conditions including eating disorders, and co-occurring disorders.

Women ages 18 and older who have anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa can receive the following levels of care at Sovereign Health of San Clemente:

  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Sovereign Health of Rancho San Diego

Girls from ages of 12 to 17 can also receive treatment for eating disorders at Rancho San Diego’s adolescent facility. The Eating Disorder Program offered at our adolescent residential treatment facility offers inpatient and outpatient programs.

Teens in the Eating Disorder Program receive the following levels of care at our Rancho San Diego location:

  • Residential Treatment Center (RTC)
  • Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

Programs offered at the San Diego facility offer individualized treatment plans that look at each person holistically. Our comprehensive treatment programs include evidence-based treatments such as:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy
  • Individual, group and family therapy sessions
  • Nutrition and body-image therapy groups
  • Experiential treatments such as yoga and equine therapy

Sovereign Health’s Rancho San Diego adolescent facility also provides educational accommodations such as the EDGE (classroom/study center), independent study through the student’s current school of residence, GED prep and other educational services. Family therapy is provided one to two times per week or as needed, and onsite intensive family support is offered on a monthly basis.

Insurance

Sovereign Health of California accepts the majority of private insurance plans and provides insurance verification for no additional charge during admissions. Patients and their families whose insurance will not cover the cost of services or do not have insurance may receive financing if they have difficulty paying for treatment. Sovereign Health has partnered with My Treatment Lender to provide treatment loans for people who need assistance with financing their behavioral health treatment.

Our admissions team assists patients and their families with obtaining insurance coverage and other financial options they have available to assist them in paying for treatment. For more information about covering the costs of treatment, please call our 24/7 helpline to talk to a member of our admissions team.
