When treating an addiction with a co-occurring mental health disorder, a full-spectrum of clinically trained professionals is needed in order to help patients overcome their struggle and learn the tools to live a healthy life. Since co-occurring disorders, called dual diagnosis, refer to both a mental health disorder and a substance use disorder, members of the team must be knowledgeable about both realms of mental health and substance abuse.
