"Do not mistake understanding for realization, and do not mistake realization for liberation" - Tibetan Saying

Welcome to the first edition Journeys, the Sovereign Health of California newsletter. We hope this finds you well. The idea behind launching this newsletter is to feature not only Sovereign Health of California Treatment Center related news, but also health tips from our friendly staff and stories from our past patients-the Sovereign Health of California graduates. We will also be setting up a blog site within the next few weeks that will feature interesting stories of all sorts.

Remember: frequent reading promotes good brain health!

Rebecca's House added to the Sovereign Health of California Family

We are pleased to announce that last April we acquired Rebecca's House, an exemplary eating disorders treatment program. A significant number of patients being treated for Dual Diagnosis, a combination of chemical dependency and an underlying mental condition, are also afflicted with eating disorders. The latest data shows that over 8 million people in the U.S are suffering from eating disorders.

Founder Rebecca Cooper, MFT, of Rebecca's House planned on restructuring the company since last year. "In these times, all successful treatment centers are looking at their operations to be certain it supports the treatment success. It is very important that patients of Rebecca's House continue to receive the quality service that has always been provided. There was a need to step back and look at a new way of doing the business portion, in order to be able to continue to help those with eating disorders.

After months of considering offers and collaborations, I am pleased that Sovereign Health of California has acquired the business and allowed me to resume my position in clinical treatment where I belong."

As part of the acquisition, Rebecca's House will remain focusing on its nationally-recognized eating disorders program. The eating disorders program is under Rebecca's direction and supported by the team of licensed clinicians and professionals of Sovereign Health of California.
Treatment Center Update

Written Dr. Meghan Marcum- Associate Clinical Director
The clinical programs at Sovereign Health of California are flourishing and have recently integrated new disciplines offered to patients in treatment. We are excited to announce the addition of Bree Ponder, Certified Yoga Instructor and Deborah McCarthy, Registered Dietician. Yoga provides patients with a tool for relaxation and spiritual connection as the search for recovery begins. Specific education on nutrition and meal-planning is also important for continued self-care and adds support to standard clinical treatment. Patients have reported an increased level of satisfaction since the onset of these new services and every patient now receives yoga and nutritional education as a part of recovery. In addition to these new modalities, we continue to offer the most innovative clinical interventions including biofeedback, psychological assessment and cognitive rehabilitation.

Rebecca's House has also joined under the Sovereign Health umbrella and we have embraced the spirit of recovery toward patients who are diagnosed with eating disorders. Equine therapy is also offered as part of standard treatment for patients in Rebecca's House. For more information on our services please visit our website at sovcal.com.

As part of the acquisition, Rebecca's House will remain focusing on its nationally-recognized eating disorders program. The eating disorders program is under Rebecca's direction and supported by the team of licensed clinicians and professionals of Sovereign Health of California.
