October Brings Mental Health Awareness
Sovereign Health Proudly Supports National Recovery Month

October is one of the most important months for mental health awareness.  Why, you might ask. It's not because of Halloween.  The reason is because no other month is packed with as many mental health awareness days and events as October!  October is jam packed with days to promote mental health awareness, and similarly, Sovereign Health is proud to promote those days and related events.

The first of these events is Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW).  In 1990, the U.S. Congress established the first week of October as Mental Illness Awareness Week in recognition of the National Alliance on Mental Illness's (NAMI) efforts to raise mental illness awareness. Since 1990, mental health advocates across the country have joined together during the first full week of October to celebrate. MIAW has become a NAMI tradition. It presents an opportunity to all NAMI state organizations and affiliates across the country to work together in communities to achieve the NAMI mission through outreach, education and advocacy.

Meet Our Staff

Q&A with Peter Van Druff

Each month Sovereign Health puts one of its own staff in the spotlight to provide an in-depth look at the people who are dedicated to create and provide quality care for our clients and families.

In this month issue we highlight a QA session with Peter van Druff, The new Manager of Extended Care, overseeing the various Sovereign programs that help patients stay connected and healthy as they leave, and long after they've left Sovereign's primary programs.

1. What brought you to Sovereign Health?
To put it simply, I really feel that God had an important hand in bringing me to Sovereign.  Let me explain: since 2004, when I finished my path towards recovery, I was looking for an innovative recovery environment.  During this time I left Spencer Recovery, where I had been working for some time, and came up with a model of clarity through contrast. Read More

Utilizing Insurance
Cost Effective Treatment

Many sufferers of Addiction, Dual Diagnosis, Mental Health, and/or Eating Disorder conditions have been left untreated due to not having enough financial resources to cover a treatment program.  In the past, there were programs for those who qualified for county and/or government assistance and programs for those who were able to afford high end treatment. The question then arose, what about the middle, typically known as the working class?

Sovereign Health Group wanted to change the face of the utilization of private health insurance for behavioral health and addiction treatment and help more people reach the help they need and deserve.   SHG has been diligent and motivated from inception to create and continue increasing the amount of coverage a patient receives for treatment. From the very first call, our admissions team will handle the verification of benefits and devise a plan of action to get the patient into treatment as quickly as possible. We are willing to work with each person individually and devise the best plan.

We are proud to say "We Accept and Direct Bill Insurance".

We accept most PPO and HMO insurances up front, call Admissions today to learn more, 866-819-2948.
