Meet Our Staff
Dr. Sarah Steinmeyer, Director of Eating Disorder Treatment at Sovereign Health Group

Each month Sovereign Health puts one of its own staff in the spotlight to provide an in-depth look at the people who are dedicated to create and provide quality care for our clients and families.

In this month's newsletter we highlight Dr. Sarah Steinmeyer.

Dr. Sarah Steinmeyer is the Director of Sovereign's Eating Disorder and Change for Life programs. Dr. Sunny, as she prefers to be called, is licensed as a clinical psychologist by the state of California and has a vast experience of more than 30 years, working in a variety of mental health and medical settings. She received Doctorate in General Psychology from United States (Alliant) International University, San Diego, CA in 1986. Before joining Sovereign, she was the Clinical Coordinator at Capistrano by the Sea Hospital for many years, where she also facilitated a multi-family treatment program. Dr. Steinmeyer has served as an eating disorder therapist at various medical centers, most recently Mission Hospital of Laguna Beach, California. In addition to her hospital work she maintains a private practice in Laguna Hills, treating adolescent and adult patients. Dr. Steinmeyer was selected Winning Author of the First-Paper Competition, sponsored by the National Association of Private Psychiatric Hospitals, in 1991. She frequently makes community presentations on parenting, anger management and relationship issues. Around the office, Dr. Sunny, is arguably most known for her positive outlook and inquisitive nature, often providing some much-needed levity in what can often be a very heavy field.

Challsee Shares His Story
Challsee shares her story about the treatment in Sovereign health. She tells how her mother by surfing the internet and doing some research for dual diagnosis treatment came to know about Sovereign Health. She shares that she liked this center better and met the best people here in comparisons to other treatment centers.

In this narrative, Challsee needed a center for Dual Diagnosis to help address her addiction and co-occurring health conditions. She shares that she liked this center better and met the best people here and feels grateful that she ended up here. She acknowledges her therapist and calls her super sweet and intelligent. She shares that staff at Sovereign Health were very approachable, outgoing, fun and helpful and made her stay very comfortable. She enjoyed the process group as it focused on outside issues and the ways to make them better. She suggested that new patients that they be open to the program and people and not to hold themselves.

Utilizing Insurance
Cost Effective Treatment

Many sufferers of Addiction, Dual Diagnosis, Mental Health, and/or Eating Disorder conditions have been left untreated due to not having enough financial resources to cover a treatment program.  In the past, there were programs for those who qualified for county and/or government assistance and programs for those who were able to afford high end treatment. The question then arose, what about the middle, typically known as the working class?

Sovereign Health Group wanted to change the face of the utilization of private health insurance for behavioral health and addiction treatment and help more people reach the help they need and deserve.   SHG has been diligent and motivated from inception to create and continue increasing the amount of coverage a patient receives for treatment. From the very first call, our admissions team will handle the verification of benefits and devise a plan of action to get the patient into treatment as quickly as possible. We are willing to work with each person individually and devise the best plan.

We are proud to say "We Accept and Direct Bill Insurance".

We accept most PPO and HMO insurances up front, call Admissions today to learn more, 866-819-2948.
