Enable-ism is the practice of allowing an addict’s using behaviors to continue. The reason this is so, is because it can make the enabler feel better about themselves, sadly at the expense of the addict. Without help this enabling behavior will continue after the addict stops actively using and often contributes to the addicted person to return back to active using. Enable-ism quickly overtakes all reason and as I stated before it can become “normal” behavior, so entrenched that the family goes to it again and again without any conscious effort to even look into trying something new.
