Sovereign Health Welcomes Audrey Grider presenting on Stress Reduction and Art Therapy
Stress reduction activities such as mindfulness and meditation, as well as expressive activities such as art, have been found to help people improve their coping abilities and express emotions and memories that are too difficult to put into words. Art can provide a therapeutic release for people on a number of levels. These interventions are often used with clients who have experienced trauma, substance abuse, and/or eating disorders
. The presentation will consist of a power point slide show and interactive activities that are designed to teach participants about expressive modalities through interactive experience. Reducing stress is a helpful technique in maintaining long term sobriety, building self esteem and also impulse regulation. Creating art can also serve as a form of empowerment for an individual who has been victimized physically or emotionally.
