Nathaniel was in our Lake Arrowhead mental treatment facility before coming down to the Sovereign Health facility in San Clemente to share his experiences about music therapy, nutritional therapy and group living. Nathaniel says the treatment and staff helped him see the light at the end of the tunnel. Prior to coming to the mental health facility Nathaniel had a bad attitude. Through the time spent at the Sovereign Health center he developed the skills need to manage his anger. Since returning from Sovereign Health, Nathaniel plans on going back to school, playing football and going on to lead a normal life.
Music therapy isn’t the only unique therapy offered at Sovereign Health to help people handle mental health concerns. Sovereign Health also offers treatments via art therapy, play therapy, hypnotherapy, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), vagal nerve stimulation (VNS) as well as traditional psychotherapy, group therapy and medication. Traditional exercise is another aspect of mental health that can often go overlooked. Research has shown that regular exercise can be a valuable tool in fighting depression as it helps patients build confidence, promotes a positive body image and increase the circulation of neurotransmitters like serotonin, endorphins and norepinephrine.
Nutritional therapy was another aspect of the Sovereign Health program which benefited Nathaniel. The majority of mental health experts assert that proper nutrition can have a direct correlation on a patient’s mental health and overall well-being. Scientific research supporting the role of proper nutrition in the field of mental care is growing by the day and nutrition has been incorporated into the mental health treatment at Sovereign Health.
