Good news for those living in Orange County. Sovereign Health Group is now offering SMART Recovery meetings that are open to the public.
Join others in recovery every Thursday night from 6:15 – 7:30pm at Sovereign Health Group: 1211 Puerta Del Sol, Suite 110, San Clemente, California, 92673, as an alternative to Alcoholics Anonymous and other Twelve Step Programs.
SMART Recovery stands for Self-Management And Recovery Training, and does not label individuals as addicts or alcoholics, but instead serves as a self-help, abstinence-based way to stop addiction to drugs and alcohol or to any set of behaviors. The methodology includes aspects of psychology, learning to help yourself, relapse prevention, and identification of personal pain and past issues that are keeping you sick.
The SMART Recovery meetings are open to anyone wanting to participate. With open and confidential discussion focusing on the here-and-now challenges and difficulties of recovery, people help one another learn how to increase the motivation to quit (and stay substance-free), how to handle urges without acting on them (by drinking or using), how to develop new and healthier ways of coping with stress, pain, and problems, and how to create a sustainable and positive healthy lifestyle.
Have you found a way to stay clean and sober that works for you? For many people in recovery, traditional Twelve Step Programs do not provide the right format. No program is ever going to be right for everybody, so it is important to your sobriety that you try other avenues. If you really like the idea of fellowship and creating your own sober community, give SMART Recovery a try!
The group meetings will be facilitated by Donna Carollo. You can find out more by calling (949) 492-8299 and you can learn more about SMART Recovery at http://www.smartrecovery.org/.
We look forward to seeing you on Thursdays from 6:15 – 7:30pm!
