This month marks Alcohol Awareness Month for the field of addiction. Alcohol Awareness month has been recognized each April since 1987 by the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. (NCADD). Each year, the NCADD sponsors Alcohol Awareness Month to increase public awareness and understanding, reduce stigma and encourage local communities to focus on alcoholism and alcohol-related issues.
This April, NCADD highlights the important public health issue of underage drinking, a problem with devastating individual, family and community consequences. With this year’s theme, “Help for Today, Hope for Tomorrow,” the month of April will be filled with local, state, and national events aimed at educating people about the treatment and prevention of alcoholism.
For Sovereign Health Group, Alcohol Awareness Month is an especially important time. Understanding and treating addictive disorders, especially alcohol addiction, is not the only part of Sovereign Health Group’s mission. Helping to make the general public and especially the families that have been, and continue to suffer with the realities of addiction each and every day aware of the dangers of addiction is extremely important for Sovereign Health Group.
As a part of the broader addiction community, Sovereign Health Group truly understands the need to make people aware of all the aspects of addiction, for those both inside and outside of treatment. Since addiction can be an extremely common, but terrible condition, educating people about its symptoms and effects is extremely important.
Alcohol Awareness Month is extremely important for the general addiction field and especially for Sovereign Health Group. Each year, Alcohol Awareness Month and the NCADD help promote awareness about Alcohol and the dangers of addiction and bring us one step closer to solving this terrible problem. This year, Sovereign Health Group is proud to be a part.
