At Sovereign Health of California, we are aware that you are much more than the problems that bring you to us. You are a unique individual with your own assets and skills and you deserve a program that helps you identify your strengths as well as your difficulties. We encourage you to recognize these qualities, because they will be the building blocks of your recovery. After all, success is the product of courage and strength, not weakness!
Whilst we offer educational and therapeutic experiences regarding food, we also place significant emphasis on helping you to repair the difficulties that underlie the eating disorder behavior. These often include:
- An inability to feel confident
- An inability to express emotions, especially fear, anger or sadness
- A chronic need to meet unrealistic or perfectionistic expectations
- A core belief in inadequacy
- A history of trauma or abuse
- Depression, guilt and often hopelessness
- A sense of being out of control in all aspects of life
- Other obsessions or compulsive behaviors
Because of our emphasis on the importance of you as an individual, we are aware that eating disorders often do not occur alone, but are paired with other difficulties such as depression, anxiety and substance abuse. At Sovereign Health, we meet these needs through our Dual Diagnosis Treatment Program which allows us to address an entire spectrum of behavioral problems in your individualized treatment plan.
As part of our philosophy, the highly trained staff members of Sovereign Health pay close attention to your progress in whatever form it appears. We encourage you to set realistic expectations for yourself but, if you fail to meet your goals, we are simply interested in helping you to learn from the experience.
We want you to see yourself for the unique, courageous and valuable individual we know you to be!
